Love! Family! Relationships!
Like Mary Thornton, award-winning singer-songwriter and humanitarian Patti Jannetta is a recipient of the Queen’s Jubilee Medal.
Jannetta is the Executive Director of Big Music Fest, and as an entertainer she has sung with some of the all-time greats, including Ronnie Hawkins and Bo Diddley.
She is also the daughter of the late Louis Jannetta, the beloved maître d’ of the legendary Royal York Hotel Imperial Room during its glory days. Her company,
Janta Entertainment, provides artistic event planning services for festivals and corporate fundraisers. A great friend of Diane Dupuy and the Famous People Players, Jannetta recently performed in their Matt Dusk Christmas Show.
“We’re an incredibly big and close family. I cannot help but think of my husband Dave [Baker] whom I met at 18 years of age. We’ve weathered every storm and we’re still unbelievably in love after 38 years and several grandchildren. Music brought us together; it’s always been our passion. The secret to our longevity is not being selfish. And I don’t say that lightly. It’s about having respect for someone’s feelings, point of view and their differences. If you truly love someone and want to be with them forever, you get through the tough times by putting yourself in their shoes.
People never believe me, but we’ve never really had a fight, although we’ve had disagreements. Love flavours everything for me; it comes first and is the over-arching thing in any relationship.”
