2007 Mississauga’s Waterfront Festival
Mississauga’s Waterfront Festival is back with a blast in their old home, the beautifully renovated Memorial Park and you’ll find the most exciting weekend of entertainment the festival has ever presented.
Start the celebration Friday night with the best in Canadian music on the main stage, by rocking with Tom Cochrane. He’s enjoying a huge revival in popularity with his new CD that’s achieving major airplay.
The Festival has been receiving calls as far away as Pennsylvania about his appearance, Patti Jannetta Event/Artistic Manager tells me. The same can be said for Chantal Kreviazuk, as you cannot turn on the radio without hearing songs from her brilliant new album. Jim Cuddy’s latest release proves him to be one of Canada’s best-loved voices, recently winning another Juno award. Patti Jannetta says they’ve never had as many advance calls for tickets as with this line-up. “We have so many wonderful events and attractions planned, everyone can get excited. And, of course, we always present a huge roster of popular kids’ and family entertainment.” All for only $13 for adults and $8 for kids/seniors in advance on the website or at Shoppers Drug Mart for the whole weekend; or $15 and $10 at the gates. Children 2 & under are free. Along with Dora the Explorer, Barney, The Care Bears Show, to name a few, there’s a new show called “Cookie the Yogacise” clown, teaching kids and their parents how to get active in a fun and interactive way. Co-sponsored by The Mississauga News and Metalworks, the popular Mississauga Future Stars Contest is back with celebrity judges and great prizing, including $2,000 cash donated by Aielli Ristorante – the winner receiving a recording session from Metalworks Studios. Co-sponsored by The Mississauga News and AM 740, a special Father’s Day event will pick the winner of The Great Canadian Dad Contest. Win a family barbeque cookout for 20 at your own home, sponsored by Peter Wright, author of “Cook Like a Mother” – Peter cooks and dad keeps the barbeque! In the park, along with the usual carnival, vendors, petting zoo, dog show and buskers you can thrill to the Swywys Jetski Stunt Show on the river, and see an Extreme Skateboard Show, hosted by West 49. Then dance to the pounding rhythms of a First Nations display and demonstration by the Ojibway Story Teller and White Pine Dancers.
